We are looking for an experienced and energetic Groups & Events Manager to join our growing sales team.

 

The key measurement of performance will be performance versus the Revenue goals. Working within the Sales team, this position has responsibility for responding to all Group and Events enquiries in order to maximize revenue & utilization of meeting space, working to ensure, at a minimum, delivery of budgeted revenues.

 

You will manage and convert all business, including contracting and managing group room and function diary inventory and events. As the Groups & Events Manager must demonstrate high energy levels & provide consistently high levels of customer service, in accordance with Marriott International Standards & Programmes.

 

Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Review contracts, event orders, proposals, and checking space availability for meetings booked before sharing.
  • Set up appointments and make personal telemarketing and insider tours to all leads
  • Responsible for all requests for 10 rooms and above attached to banqueting facilities or only banqueting facilities within the allocated account base and geographic area.
  • Manages the completion of all Group RFPs/Group Contracts solicitations ensuring they are completed accurately and in line with budgeted guidelines. Ensuring accurate follow up and communication both internally to reservations and accounting departments and confirmation to client.
  • To arrange and manage insider tours.
  • Communicating client requirements in a timely and accurate manner to all internal departments as required, ensuring delivery of superior guest service.
  • Take responsibility for understanding the Marketing plan and the required budgetary guidelines of the Hotel, to enable empowered decisions in all rate negotiations.
  • Comply and execute monthly sales action plans as agreed with DOSM
  • Ensuring that the sales activities re aligned with hotel strategy.
  • Assist the Sales Coordinator Groups & banqueting where required, to ensure the efficient day to day operations of the Sales Department.
  • Ensuring to utilise systems (Opera, Outlook, MI Leads, Cvent, OneSource, etc.) to the full capacity.
  • On weekly basis, prepare an activity report which will cover sales activities on Opera

 

Additional responsibilities and tasks can be added at any time according to the needs of the business and of the hotel.

 

 

 

Profile required:
 

Education: 

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree.

 

Experience: 

  • At least 1 year of experience of groups & banqueting account executive. Experience in a supervisory position preferred.
  • Managing team and driving in conjunction the ESS survey for the hotel (Event Satisfaction Survey)

 

Job Specific knowledge & Skills:

  • Must be proficient in writing, speaking and negotiating in local language, English and at least one additional language.
  • Ability to priorities tasks & to manage workload using own initiative.
  • Excellent computer skills – sound knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation & DTP software packages, email, internet & intranet systems.
  • Foreign language skills preferred.
  • Previous experience in hotel, travel & tourism, service sector preferred.
  • Ability to maintain complete confidentiality at all times.
  • High degree of personal loyalty & integrity.
  • Team player – with a sense of humour even in the face of adversity.
